How can I setup email in Outlook 2003?

 Info you will need:

  • Your domain name, e.g. example.com
  • Your email address.
  • Your email password.
  • Text in this color is used as an example. Please be sure to replace this text with the proper information for your server or domain.

Configuring your email client: Outlook 2003

  1. Open Outlook 2003.
  2. Click the Tools menu and select E-mail Accounts....

  3. Click Add a new e-mail account and then click Next.

  4. Select POP3 or IMAP and click Next.


    Webhosting Mumbai's servers support POP3 and IMAP.

  5. Fill in the following fields:
    • Enter Your Name as you want it to appear.
    • Enter your full email address username@example.com in the Email address: field.
    • Enter your username username@example.com in the Account Name: field.
    • Enter your email password in the Password field.
    • Enter mail.example.com in the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP) server: field.
    • Enter mail.example.com in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: field.


    If you will be using email over SSL you need to put your access domain in the Server fields, e.g. s#####.gridserver.com.

  6. Perform the following steps:
    • Click on More Settings...
    • Click on the Outgoing Server tab.
    • Check My outgoing server (SMTP) Requires Authentication.
    • Make sure Use same settings as my incoming mail server is also checked.
    • Click on OK.

  7. Click the Test Account Settings button and you should see all items with green check marks. Click Close to close the test window.

  8. Click Next to save your settings.

  9. Congratulations.  You have finished the setup of your email account.  Click Finish to close the Setup Wizard.



(gs) Grid-Service accounts only: If you are still having issues sending email you can try the following:

  1. Click the Tools menu and select E-mail Accounts.

  2. Click View or change existing e-mail accounts and then click Next.

  3. Highlight the email account under Accounts and click Change.

  4. Click on the More Settings... button.

  5. Click the Advanced tab and change the smtp port to the alternate port of 587, and click OK.
